Welcome

Aviation High is an exciting Queensland Government initiative aimed at providing students with innovative and interesting educational pathways that lead to a broad range of careers in the growing aerospace and aviation industries.

The school is a specialised state high school that caters for Year 8 to Year 12 students who are interested and passionate about aviation and aerospace and may consider careers in these areas.

Positioned in close proximity to the Brisbane International Airport the curriculum at Aviation High has been significantly influenced and supported by the aerospace and aviation industries. The school offers Queensland Studies Authority subjects from Year 8 to Year 12 similar to other schools, but all of the subjects have been contextualised with aerospace and aviation content. Subjects such as Aeroskills Technology (Year 8-10), Aerospace Studies (Year 11-12) and Aeroskills Studies (Year 11-12) are also offered at the school. All students at Aviation High have the potential to gain a Queensland Certificate of Education and/or an Overall Position (OP) score.

Australia’s major aerospace and aviation companies have pledged their support for Aviation High including curriculum development, opportunities for students, staff professional development, marketing, awards/scholarships and specialised facilities. Aviation High’s industry partners and formal Direct Entry relationships with universities and post school training providers establishes an end to end education model from the classroom to employment with the industries.

Staff at the school have been involved with professional development training within the industry and are encouraged to work closely with our industry partners to ensure the curriculum offered at the school reflects the needs of the industry. This relationship between the staff and the industry will be an on-going feature of the school.

Even though Aviation High has an industry focus, the school will still offer a well balanced quality education. It is recognised that not all students attending the school may eventually work in aerospace or aviation, however these students will not be disadvantaged because it is considered that the employability skills developed at Aviation High are transferable to other industries.

I invite you to browse our website for more information regarding Aviation High.
